This article explores the dynamics of pastoral care for the elderly within the context of PPOS GBKP (Pusat Pelayanan Orang Tua Sejahtera, or the Center for Elderly Ministry under the Batak Karo Protestant Church). Drawing on the theories of Niklas Luhmann's social systems and Henri J.M. Nouwen's concept of the wounded healer, this study examines how the structured division of labor and relational dynamics among staff, caregivers, and trainees influence the quality of care and spiritual formation. The research employs a qualitative, reflective approach using autoethnographic methods, drawing on the author’s two-month pastoral internship at PPOS. The findings show that each division functions as an interrelated subsystem, forming an adaptive network of ministry. More deeply, the study reveals that pastoral identity is not formed through authority or perfection but through wounds—suffering, exhaustion, and shared vulnerability. In this context, the experience of “being wounded†becomes the space of encounter with Christ and with the brokenness of others. This article contributes to contextual theological discourse by offering a model of holistic elderly ministry rooted in spiritual empathy, organizational interconnectedness, and incarnational presence.
