Otoritas Orang Tua dan Agensi Anak: Pembacaan Ulang Efesus 6:1-4 dalam Konteks Pendidikan Keluarga Indonesia Kontemporer
Abstrak
This article offers a rereading of Ephesians 6:1-4, focusing on the dialectic between parental authority and child agency within the context of contemporary Indonesian Christian family education. Through exegetical-theological analysis, this study demonstrates that the Pauline text does not advocate absolute authority that negates the child's subjectivity. Instead, it constructs a relational ecology in which the child's obedience (ὑπακούω) is responsive and participatory, and parental authority is bounded by a Christ-centered formative mandate (παιδεία καὶ νουθεσία κυρίου). Within the Indonesian context marked by hierarchical-paternalistic culture on one hand and relational disruption due to modernization on the other, this reading proposes an "empowering authority" paradigm as a theological middle way. The implication is a transformation of Christian family education from an authoritarian-transmission model toward a dialogical-formative model that honors the child's dignity as imago Dei while shaping their character within the community of faith.
Abstrak
Artikel ini menawarkan pembacaan ulang Efesus 6:1-4 dengan memfokuskan pada dialek-tika antara otoritas orang tua dan agensi anak dalam konteks pendidikan keluarga Kristiani Indonesia kontemporer. Melalui analisis eksegesis-teologis, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teks Paulus tidak mengadvokasi otoritas absolut yang menegasi subjektivitas anak, melainkan membangun eko-logi relasional di mana ketaatan anak (ὑπακούω) bersifat responsif-partisipatif dan otoritas orang tua dibatasi oleh mandat formatif (παιδεία καὶ νουθεσία κυρίου) yang berpusat pada Kristus. Da-lam konteks Indonesia yang ditandai oleh budaya hierarkis-paternalistik di satu sisi dan disrupsi relasional akibat modernisasi di sisi lain, pembacaan ini mengusulkan paradigma "otoritas yang memberdayakan" sebagai jalan tengah teologis. Implikasinya adalah transformasi pendidikan keluarga Kristiani dari model transmisi otoriter menuju model formasi-dialogis yang menghormati martabat anak sebagai imago Dei sekaligus membentuk karakter mereka dalam komunitas iman.
