Toxic Leadership Jean Lipman-Blumen: Sebuah Ekplorasi Biblis

Toxic leadership is not only found in countries or companies, but it has also infiltrated the church, particularly in churches located in low-education areas. Such leadership existed and was appreciated by followers because it addressed people's psychological need for an authoritative leader. The purpose of this study is to investigate toxic leadership and its symptoms, as outlined in Jean Lipman-Blumen's theory and the Bible, in the context of current church leadership. This descriptive qualitative research study employed a literature review approach. The research discoveries reveal that Lipman's theory identifies nine symptoms that align with the symptoms of toxic leadership in the Bible, which are relevant to contemporary church circumstances. This study has contributed to a good understanding of how to prevent and anticipate toxic leadership in the church.Â

Abstrak
Toxic leadership tidak hanya terdapat dalam kepemimpinan di suatu negara maupun perusahaan namun sudah masuk ke dalam gereja, khususnya gereja-gereja yang berada di wilayah berpendidikan rendah. Kepemimpinan seperti itu muncul dan disukai para pengikut karena relevan dengan kebutuhan psikogis orang untuk mendapatkan pemimpin yang berotoritas. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggali tentang kepemimpinan beracun dan gejalanya menurut teori Jean Lipman-Blumen dan gejalanya menurut Alkitab yang relevan dengan kepemimpinan gereja saat ini. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan ada sembilan gejala dalam teori Lipman yang sejalan dengan gejala kepemimpinan beracun menurut Alkitab dan relevan dengan kondisi gereja kontemporer. Kontribusi penelitian ini adalah pemahaman yang baik untuk mencegah dan mengantisipasi kepemimpinan beracun dalam gereja.
