Abstrak
Acts 5:1–11 records an event that frequently generates theological tension: the immediate deaths of Ananias and Sapphira as a consequence of their deception toward the community and the Holy Spirit. This event appears to conflict with the doctrine of divine patience (makrothymia), one of the most prominent divine attributes in the New Testament. This article examines how the immediate divine judgment in Acts 5:1–11 can be coherently understood within the framework of divine-patience theology and explores its implications for contemporary ecclesiology, particularly regarding church discipline, community integrity, and the call to corporate holiness. This study employs a narrative-historical-exegetical method applied to Acts 5:1–11, combined with cross-canonical biblical-theological analysis and a systematic-ecclesiological review. Findings indicate that the immediate judgment in this pericope does not negate divine patience but functions as a divine kairos act that safeguards the integrity of the early ecclesia as a witnessing community. Implications for contemporary ecclesiology include the necessity of restoring a theology of church discipline grounded in both love and holiness.
Abstrak
Kisah Para Rasul 5:1–11 merekam sebuah peristiwa yang kerap menimbulkan ketegangan teologis: kematian seketika Ananias dan Safira akibat penipuan terhadap jemaat dan Roh Kudus. Peristiwa ini tampak bertentangan dengan doktrin kesabaran Allah (makrothymia) yang menjadi salah satu atribut ilahi yang paling menonjol dalam Perjanjian Baru. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana penghakiman ilahi yang bersifat segera dalam Kisah Para Rasul 5:1–11 dapat dipahami secara koheren dalam kerangka teologi kesabaran Allah, serta menelaah implikasinya bagi eklesiologi kontemporer, khususnya dalam hal disiplin gerejawi, integritas komunitas, dan panggilan kekudusan korporat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksegesis naratif-historis terhadap teks Kisah Para Rasul 5:1–11 yang dikombinasikan dengan analisis teologi biblika lintas kanon serta tinjauan eklesiologis-sistematis. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penghakiman segera dalam perikop ini tidak meniadakan kesabaran Allah, melainkan berfungsi sebagai tindakan kairos ilahi yang melindungi integritas eklesia perdana sebagai komunitas kesaksian. Implikasinya bagi ekseologi kontemporer mencakup pentingnya pemulihan teologi disiplin gereja yang berpijak pada kasih sekaligus kekudusan.
