Pendidikan Karakter sebagai Praksis Teologis: Menelusuri Akar Imago Dei dalam Pendidikan Agama Kristen di Indonesia

Abstract

article examines imago Dei as the theological-anthropological foundation for character formation in Christian Religious Education (CRE) in Indonesia. Employing a theological-hermeneutical method that moves from the exegesis of Genesis 1:26–27 through doctrinal analysis, interdisciplinary dialogue with character formation theory, and the formulation of contextually situated pedagogical implications, the article advances the thesis that character formation in CRE demands a fundamental paradigmatic shift: from a moralistic model oriented toward behavioral compliance toward a formative model grounded in the restoration of the image of God in the student. Imago Dei is understood across three dimensions (structural, relational, and functional) as moral capacity, dialogical mode of existence, and royal mandate derived from the Triune God. In the Indonesian context, characterized by religious plurality and the challenges of digital culture, imago Dei offers a theological framework for CRE that is simultaneously universal and contextual: universal in its creational foundation and contextual in its encounter with local wisdom such as gotong royong and religious moderation.

Abstrak

Artikel ini mengkaji imago Dei sebagai fondasi antropologi teologis dalam pembentukan karakter dalam Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) di Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan metode teologis-hermeneutis yang bergerak dari eksegesis Kejadian 1:26–27 menuju analisis doktrinal, dialog interdisipliner dengan teori pembentukan karakter, hingga perumusan implikasi pedagogis kontekstual, artikel ini berargumen bahwa pendidikan karakter dalam PAK menuntut pergeseran paradigmatik yang mendasar: dari model moralistik yang mengutamakan kepatuhan perilaku menuju model formatif yang berakar pada pemulihan gambar Allah dalam diri peserta didik. Imago Dei dipahami secara tiga dimensi (struktural, relasional, dan fungsional) sebagai kapasitas moral, maude eksistensi dialogis, dan mandat kerajaan yang bersumber dari Allah Tritunggal. Dalam konteks Indonesia yang ditandai oleh pluralisme agama dan tantangan budaya digital, imago Dei menawarkan kerangka teologis yang sekaligus universal dan kontekstual bagi PAK: universal dalam landasan penciptaan dan kontekstual dalam perjumpaan dengan kearifan lokal seperti gotong royong dan moderasi beragama.
