Abstract

This article examines the concept of the "economy of the Kingdom of God" through an exegesis of 1 Timothy 6:6–10 and the economic practices of the early church community, using them as a theological foundation for contemporary distributive justice. Employing a historical-grammatical exegetical approach combined with socio-historical analysis, this study identifies the meaning of αὐτάρκεια (autarkeia) as theological sufficiency distinct from Stoic idealism and explores how the early Christian community structurally practiced economic redistribution. Findings indicate that the text offers not merely an individual moral warning but an alternative economic architecture grounded in koinonia. Practical implications for the contemporary Indonesian church include developing models of structural diakonia, transparent congregational financial governance, and church engagement in social justice advocacy. This study fills a gap in the literature by integrating exegesis of the Pastoral Epistles with the contextual economics of the Indonesian church.
