Atas Nama Keadilan Jejak Protes Israel Utara dalam Sumber E Keluaran 5:1-24
Abstract
This article examines Exodus 5:1-24 using the socio-historical interpretation method. Through the research conducted, we classify Exodus 5:1-24 under the E source (Elohist), which originates from the Northern Kingdom of Israel. This E source emerged as a protest from the prophets of Northern Israel against the oppression carried out by Solomon and then Rehoboam, who imposed high taxes to support the stability of their rule. When Exodus 5:1-24 is read in the context of this protest, the protest of Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh also represents the protest of the people of Northern Israel, who were oppressed by King Solomon and then by his son Rehoboam. The prophetic protest against the injustice experienced by the people of Northern Israel serves as an important call today for the church and society to remain critical of oppressive structures.
Abstrak
Tulisan ini mengkaji Keluaran 5:1-24 dengan metode tafsir sosiohistoris. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, teks Keluaran 5:1-24 ternyata digolongkan ke dalam sumber E (Elohis) yang berasal dari Kerajaan Israel Utara. Sumber E muncul sebagai protes dari kenabian Israel Utara terhadap penindasan yang dilakukan oleh Salomo dan kemudian Rehabeam, yang memberlakukan pajak tinggi untuk mendukung stabilitas pemerintahannya. Ketika Keluaran 5:1-24 dibaca dalam konteks protes ini, protes Musa dan Harun kepada Firaun sesungguhnya juga mewakili protes orang-orang Israel Utara yang ditindas oleh Raja Salomo dan kemudian oleh anaknya, Rehabeam. Ketidakadilan yang dialami oleh orang-orang Israel Utara dan protes kenabian terhadap hal itu, menjadi seruan penting di masa kini bagi gereja dan masyarakat untuk tetap kritis terhadap struktur-struktur yang menindas.
