The global ecological crisis has prompted theology to reassess paradigms that have contributed to the exploitation of the natural world. This article critically examined the anthropocentric tendencies embedded within atonement theology, particularly in the traditions shaped by Anselm and later Reformed thought, which frequently reduced the relationship between God and creation to the problem of human sin. Employing a constructive qualitative approach, the study proposed the concept of the Cosmic Christ as an alternative theological framework for ecotheology. Through a dialogue with the thought of Maximus the Confessor, Athanasius, Richard Rohr, Joas Adiprasetya, and Elizabeth Johnson, the article argued that Christ should be understood not only as the agent of redemption but also as the principle of creation through whom all things were created, sustained, and drawn toward their fulfillment. Such a perspective enabled people to perceive the world as sacramental, a reality permeated by divine presence and love, without collapsing into pantheism. The results of this article's research are the concept of cosmic vocation as a human calling to live in cosmic solidarity with all creation. Rather than positioning human beings as rulers or co-creators, cosmic vocation emphasized participation in God’s ongoing work of love, care, and renewal. As a result, it provided a model of ecological spirituality based on the idea that the world is a creation blessed by God and gave the Church an ethical basis for its work in the environment.
